Transcripts of telephone interview with Marina Petronov on January 17, 2012 with Private Investigator related to her missing inventor brother...
NOTICE: Due to continous hacking activity at our previous site, we have established this temporary location until we can permanently resolve the problem. Thank you for your indulgence. I apologize for the inconvenience.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Dimitri Petronov is/was a Russian inventor of a plasma battery that powered his entire two bedroom house in Moscow for almost 14 months before the Russian government seized his device after Dimitri disappeared on February 10th 2010 after visiting a local bakery. The above link tells the story in greater detail. I received information from a friend of Marina Petronov's neighbor that Marina suspected foul play of either the Russian or American government. A former investigator from Scotland Yard personally known to me for over 15 years offered to make an unofficial inquiry/interview by telephone after his own preliminary investigation revealed that a man by the name of Zachary Greene Warfield had visited with Petronov and yet another American plasma battery inventor in 2010 puporting to be representing "investors". After Zachary turned up dead in a strange boating accident on the Potomac river, his real occupation as an undercover government operative grew suspect. Here is his obituary which you can use to fill in the blanks.
The investigator obtained a photo of Zachary Greene Warfield and sent it to Marina who has since moved out of Moscow. Marina agreed to speak confidnetially with the investigator and on January 17th a call lasting 8:12 minutes before Marina abruptly ended the call. Unfortunately the investigator was only able to ask about 30% of his questions before the call ended. Some of the interview has been deleted related to the personal ID and location of both the investigator and Marina.
Two weeks after we originally posted this interview, I received an email from my retired Scotland Yard friend advising me of the following:
"Regretfully I cannot continue with the Petronov investigation for reasons you may guess. I have received two unsolicited warning calls and my wife found a rather intimidating message in her garden. I trust you can bloody well understand my concerns and decision. Best wishes and good luck to you. We part as the friends we always were. Please remain healthy *******. Kindly refrain from further contact. - MP"
Here is the transcribe interview of January 17th, 2012...
(2:47 minutes of Introductions and some reassuring small talk deleted as Marina started having second thoughts about proceeding with the telephone interview)
Investigator: "Wow, your English is bloody well on target Marina. Why so?"
Marina: "Thank you, I study English as my major and work two years as a Concierge"
Investigator: "So then can we begin with the questions?"
Marina: "Yes, I guess so".
Investigator: "So when was the last time you heard from Dimitri?"
Marina: "February 13th of 2010 about 8:30 am"
Investigator: "What was his mood the last time you saw him - was he worried about anything?"
Marina: "Worried? No, He was his usual self, nothing different really".
Investigator: "What have the Moscow police told you so far?"
Marina: "They told me in the beginning they had no reason to suspect anything criminal... but now they do not even accept my telephone calls. I cannot even find out the name of the person assigned to the case or even if they are still investigating.... When I call they seem so bothered with me."
Investigator: "Did you ever see or hear from Vladimir again?"
Marina: "No, never - only that one time."
Investigator: "Has anything unusual happened since Dimitri disappeared in 2010?"
Marina: "Yes, about two weeks ago...I...received a package at my door."
Investigator: "Can you explain for me?"
Marina breaks down and cries for 32 seconds
Marina: "It was Dimitri's watch...... It was muddy and rusty - broken...I was..."
Marina sobs uncontrollably for 38 seconds
Marina: "I'm sorry, do you have any more questions?"
Investigator: "What happend to the battery Marina?"
Marina: "When I came back from the police station there was no electricity in the house. I discover that somebody came and took the battery. My neighbor told me two military men had entered my house for about ten minutes and left carrying the battery."
Investigator: "Has anyone from the Russian government contacted you since the police interviewed you in 2010?"
Investigator: "You received the letter I sent you with the photgraph yes?"
Marina: "Yes, yesterday it arrive"
Investigator: “Marina, did you ever see this man before, the man in the photo I sent you?”
Marina: “Yes, I saw him speaking with my brother and another man about 6 months before Dimitri disappeared.”
Investigator: “Are you absolutely 100% certain it is the same man?”
Marina “Yes, I am very certain it is the same man”.
Investigator: “Do you know his name?”
Marina: “He said his name was Mr. Maginnis from America.”
Investigator: “I see. Did he give you or your brother a business card?”
Marina: “No, I did not receive one and I don’t think my brother got one.”
Investigator: “Who was the other man with them”
Marina: “I am not sure but he spoke good Russian”.
Investigator: “Was he a Russian or an American who spoke good Russian?”
Marina: “I cannot be sure. But he was dressed well in a fancy suit.
Investigator: “How long was the conversation Marina?”
Marina: “Oh, I don’t remember, maybe ten minutes.”
Investigator: “Do you know what they were talking about?”
Marina: 5 second pause… “The battery”
Investigator: “Are you talking about the battery Dimitri invented that he used to power your house?”
Investigator: “Where did this conversation take place Marina?”
Marina: “On the street by the magazine stand near our home in Moscow.”
Investigator: “Was it an argument they were having?”
Marina: “No, not all. The American man said he was an investor and wanted to invite Dimitri for a private dinner.”
Investigator: “Do you remember anything special about the conversation?”
Marina: “I was not really listening too much, but my brother told me later that the man in the fancy suit wanted to take him to America for some television and radio show, and that he would make millions of dollars.”
Investigator: “That’s interesting. How did your brother respond – I mean was he happy?”
Marina: “No, not really. I think he was more worried than happy.”
Investigator: “Why is that Marina – do you know?”
Marina: “Dimitri did not know how this man find him and so he was a little suspicious”.
Investigator: “Did your brother go to dinner with the man”
Investigator: “Do you know why not?”
Marina: “Yes, because my brother had made promises with the Russian government.”
Investigator: What kind of promises Marina?
Marina: 4 second pause… “I don’t want to talk about it. Sorry”.
Investigator: “Why not?”
Marina: 3 second pause… "Uh.....I’m sorry, I have to go now.”
Investigator: “Why Marina, did someone threaten you?”
6 second pause…(Click) Connection terminated by Marina
*Note: MP tried calling her back every day for three days but Marina would not answer the phone. The following week a young man answered the phone and said Marina was on holiday and insisted upon taking a message. His English was also better than average for Russia.
Now take a look at this quote taken directly from the obituary published in the newspaper by his own family...
"Zack was a co-founder and a member of the Board of Directors for Omnis, Inc., a McLean, VA-based strategic consulting firm for the intelligence, defense and national security communities. He spearheaded major research initiatives and, in addition to helping steer the company, was directly involved in numerous projects, including analytic training and technology consulting.
Prior to founding Omnis, Zack was an engineer and analyst for the U.S. Government and private industry. As a science and technology analyst, he assessed missile and space systems, managed technical contracts, and investigated Iraq's Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) program as a member of the Iraq Survey Group, serving in Baghdad on two separate occasions.
As an engineer, he worked on aerospace projects for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), and private industry. Most notably, Zack designed critical guidance systems that ensured a successful landing for the Mars Exploration Rovers, Spirit and Opportunity; his name is inscribed on one of the rovers, and remains on Mars today."
